Up to 28,000 Birmingham households could suffer if SNAP benefits end this weekend due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. The Levite JCC — in cooperation with the Birmingham Jewish Federation and Foundation, CJFS, Temple Beth-El, Temple Emanu-El, the Alabama Holocaust Education Center, the N.E. Miles Jewish Day School, Knesseth Israel, and the city governments of Mountain Brook and Birmingham — will serve as a collection point for financial and food donations beginning Sunday. Stay tuned for further information about this community effort...
