| New BJF support celebrates culture while enhancing safety |
A series of recently announced grants from the BJF provides $9,000 to boost two Levite JCC programs, plus an additional $70,000 that will further strengthen security at the venerable institution.
“We’re so grateful for these grants that help ensure that our campus remains a safe and welcoming space for everyone,” says Brooke Bowles, CEO of the Levite JCC. “As we prioritize Jewish ‘joy’ and continue offering more Jewish programs, we recognize that rising antisemitism remains a serious-enough threat that the more programming we offer, the more security we need.” Read the full story...

This year’s Jewish Food and Culture Fest on April 26 will bring some sweet (and savory) upgrades to a menu that’s always drawn a crowd. Alongside longtime favorites, festivalgoers can look forward to a lineup of traditional baked goods, including homemade hamantaschen, apple cake, rugelach, and mandelbread.

Remembering civil rights activist, longtime LJCC member J. Mason Davis |
J. Mason Davis, whom The Birmingham Times calls "a trailblazing attorney whose legal work helped dismantle segregation in Alabama and whose leadership shaped generations of lawyers and community advocates," died on Saturday at age 90. The Levite JCC is excited to welcome a shlicha | Israeli emissary to our community this summer, and we're looking for host families to open their homes for at least one two-week slot during her nine-week stay. Our visitor is 21 and will be working at J Camp.
We are seeking Jewish families — especially those with children attending J Camp (although all Jewish households with or without children will be considered). Hosting is a meaningful opportunity to build a personal connection with Israel while offering a supportive home base for a young adult experiencing life in our community. Learn more and apply...

| Congrats to March Madness bracket winners |
Some 40 members and staff participated in this year’s March Madness bracket contest, including the following winners: George Melton in first place and Brad Campbell in second, followed (in alphabetical order) by Catherine Arthur, Logan Bunting, Miranda Fast, Allen Kipp, and Patrick Lovell, plus coaches John and Tim. Prizes ranged from LJCC sweat towels, keychains, and shirts to courtside seats at this Sunday’s LJCC basketball final.
