I am The J: Denuem Holiday lives to Aspire

While Denuem Holiday hails from New Jersey, a major highlight growing up was visiting family in Birmingham every summer. When you meet Denuem (pronounced “Denim”), it doesn’t take long to pick up on his humble demeanor, and it’s no surprise that he strives to treat people with the same respect that he expects to receive.

Denuem is readily recognizable to our members as one of our friendly early-morning faces behind the Welcome Desk and a steady presence on the Fitness Floor. We caught up with him recently to ask a few questions…

New ‘Strong for Life’ program measures senior fitness

Staying strong isn’t just about lifting weights, it’s about living well. This spring, the Levite JCC invites our senior members (65+) to take part in the “Strong for Life” Challenge — a quick, engaging way to measure and celebrate your functional fitness.

Join us in the lobby on Tuesday, April 14, 9 a.m.-noon or Wednesday, April 15, 9 a.m.-noon to complete three simple assessments: a 30-second sit-to-stand, a single-leg balance hold, and a grip strength test. These aren’t just exercises — they’re proven indicators of strength, stability, and independence in everyday life.
