SHABBAT SHALOM

THE WEEKLY NEWSLETTER OF THE LEVITE JCC

Shabbat lighting: Tonight @6:35 PM

Weekly Torah portion: Vayak'hel-Pekudei

As a community rooted in connection, resilience, and care for one another, the Levite JCC shares in both the sorrow and the strength of our friends and neighbors in Michigan. In moments like these, the bonds between Jewish communities across the country remind us that no one stands alone.

We are grateful to those who provided assistance in the face of great peril and to the JCC of Metropolitan Detroit for serving as the family reunification center, offering a place of safety, comfort, and support for those seeking to reconnect with loved ones.

As we continue to work closely with our security partners, we hold those impacted by yesterday’s attack in our hearts and reaffirm our commitment to supporting one another with compassion, unity, and hope.

Volunteers power the Jewish Food and Culture Fest

Behind every plate of brisket, bowl of matzah ball soup, and tray of rugelach at the Levite JCC’s Jewish Food and Culture Fest is a dedicated team of volunteers working weeks in advance to make it all happen.

This year’s event on Sunday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. will once again rely on the more than 100 volunteers who typically help prepare food in the weeks leading up to the event and assist with dozens of roles at the event. Read the full story... and sign up for a shift!

Calling 2nd-5th grade dancers, writers

We’re looking for some creative types in 2nd-5th grades who might want to write their own plays and learn a few dance steps. Our six-week dance program and five-week playwrighting workshop will teach the fundamentals and provide a showcase for students' accomplishments. Get all the details...
