I am The J: New prez vows to expand outreach, collaboration

As a lifelong member of Temple Beth-El and the Levite JCC, Judaism and the Birmingham Jewish community have always played a central role in Steven Corenblum’s life. “My connections to these institutions are a core part of my identity,” he says.

In January, Steven became the 41st president of the Levite JCC Board of Directors. Read the interview...

Dynamic duo Dara Kosberg and Rebecca Rothman take the stage at The J

An evening of storytelling is coming to the Levite JCC on Monday, March 16, when two poignant solo performances will share the stage.

HOMECOMING, written and performed by Dara Kosberg, and GIFTED, by Birmingham’s own Rebecca Rothman, bring together humor, vulnerability, and deeply personal storytelling. Though each show stands on its own, the two performers’ shared sensibilities — and their real-life friendship — creates a special kind of dialogue. Read the full story and get tickets...

And before we go...

PARADE DAY — Children from the Cohn Early Childhood Learning Center are always excited to dress up for The J's annual Purim Parade, which coursed through the building on Tuesday. Purim is a joyful holiday marking the deliverance of the Jews of Persia from a plot to annihilate them. It is customary to celebrate the holiday by dressing in costumes, eating and drinking, and listening to the Megillah (the Book of Esther that tells the story of Purim). Read more about this and other Jewish holidays on our website.
