Extended Late August Closure 🧹🧽🔨✨

 

Your Y and Tennis and Pickleball Center will be CLOSING at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, and will remain CLOSED through Friday, Aug. 29, for deep-cleaning and facility upgrades.

 

In addition, the Gymnasium and Indoor Track will remain closed through Sunday, Sept. 7, to allow time for the freshly refinished floors to fully cure.

Cool Down & Color Up: Senior Members Tie Dye Social 

 

Come chill with us under the shady cedar trees in the Y’s parking lot for a playful and colorful summer social and tie-dye event! We’ll bring the popsicles, bandannas, tie-dye supplies and plenty of shade—you bring your lawn chair and anything else you’d like to brighten up (shirts, socks, shorts…you name it!)

Walk It Off 2025 - Upcoming Themes 🐶

 

Walk It Off is in full swing! We’re turning movement into a celebration with guided and independent walks, weekly raffles and family-friendly fun for all ages.

WHO: Anyone and everyone—bring your family and friends!

Parents' Nights Out!

 

Parents, enjoy a night out while your kids have a blast at our Kids Night IN! Drop off your youth at the Y, where our friendly staff await with an evening packed full of fun activities. They'll enjoy exciting gym games like dodgeball and gaga ball, take a swim in the pool, and get creative with arts and crafts including painting, friendship bracelet making, and face painting. Wind down with movies and delicious snacks throughout the night!

Youth Mental Health Training for Parents

 

Presented by HOOTS (Helping Out Our Teens in Schools)

 

This 2-hour training will cover different mental health terms, trends we are seeing in youth mental health, suicidality, and ways to best support youth in crisis. This training will be interactive and encourage participants to work together on skill-sharing and skill-building.

 

Date: Wednesday, Aug. 6

Time: 6 to 8 p.m.

Cost: Just $5 per adult

Bring your teens! Accompanying youth ages 11 to 18 will be given a Day Pass to use the facility while their adults participate in the talk.

 

Active Transportation Tabling Series

 

Cascadia Mobility and LTD are holding several free tabling fairs this summer at your Y! Through this partnership, the Y is helping connect members with active and alternative transportation resources, and encourage everyday, active lifestyle behaviors that support personal and community health. Whether you want to walk, bike or scoot safely to the Y, or get more familiar with Eugene's excellent bus system, join us and learn about your options!

Save the Date: Welcoming Festival 2025!

 

Taking place Sunday, Sept. 14, the Y's Welcoming Festival is a part of Welcoming America's Welcoming Week, which is celebrated every September. Welcoming Week elevates the growing movement of communities that fully embrace new Americans and their contributions to the social fabric of our country. It's a chance for neighbors—both immigrant and U.S.-born residents—to get to know one another and celebrate what unites us as a community.

Parkinson's Research: We NEED You

 

If you are living with Parkinson's disease, or know someone affected, you know there is so much we do not know about the disease. Research hopes to improve the accuracy of diagnosis, find biomarkers which lead to earlier diagnosis, develop better treatments and ultimately find a cure. Local researchers from the University of Oregon need your help! Hosted by Parkinson's Resources.

Have you been missing our monthly potlucks for active older adult members? Well good news, they'll be returning in September, and changing to Tuesdays! Bring a favorite dish or treat to share and join us next in the Kalapuya Community Room on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration will open via Group Ex later this month. 🥗

Coming Back in September: MBSR

 

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8-week training based on the personal practices of mindfulness, progressive relaxation, contemplative presence, letting go of reactivity, mindful movement (yoga, etc), and enhancing emotional intelligence. These are integrated into daily life via home practice to help folks cope with stress and improve well-being. Weekly in-person classes and excellent learning materials will guide participants through the course. Past participants in this course have told us it's life-changing!

 

Want to learn more? There will be a free info session on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 2 to 3 p.m.!

 

Dates: Saturdays, Sept. 27 to Nov. 22

Time: 2 to 4 p.m.

Cost: $175 for Y members | $250 for community members

MIUSA Visiting the Y on August 19

 

We're proud to welcome the Mobility International (MIUSA) crew for another day of adaptive sports excitement! This time they'll be bringing international visitors, and utilizing the Y's Gymnasium on Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Aquatics In-Service

 

The Aquatics Center (Lap Pool, Small Pool, Spray Pad, Hot Tub and Sauna) will be closing early at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24, for staff training.

 

Wibit days!

 

Get ready for maximum fun—through August, we're setting up the Wibit in the Lap Pool every other Thursday for afternoon Rec Swim! If you're not familiar with the Wibit, think of a big, inflatable obstacle course or play structure. (Adults can join in the fun, too!)

 

Upcoming Wibit times:

  • Thursday, Aug. 7, 1 to 3:15 p.m.

  • Thursday, Aug. 21, 1 to 3:15 p.m.

 

Note: the Lap Pool will be CLOSED from 12 to 1 p.m. and from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. to allow staff to inflate and deflate the Wibit.

Facility Improvements!

The Parking Lot has been repaved and striped, and the Pavilion is complete, although 4 more benches are schedule to arrive in early August! We invite you to use the Pavilion before or after play to connect with new and old friends.

Our awesome coaches will break down the fundamentals of serving, dinking, volleys and court strategy through fast-paced drills, team games and friendly competitions!

Q Camp is a space for LGBTQIA+ youth to come together for a fun, week-long Summer Camp experience while also learning about queer resources and history in their community and around the world! This year's stellar theme is Exploring the Queer Cosmos 💫
